Here I am doing the 100 free (I'm in the pink). They didn't let us get set before sounding the buzzer, so I ended up starting after everybody else. All things considered I was pretty pleased with my result. You can see that I kind of crap out at the end though. Must get fitter!
Here I am doing a 50 in a relay at the end. It was only a few minutes after the 100, so I was a little tired.
I also did the 50 fly, but Luca was still in the process of remembering how to use the video function on the camera, so it didn't turn out that well. I need to work on my dolphin kick.
This is us after the meet. Pay no attention to the anonyfied swim suit.

Not bad for someone who's never been on a swim team in her life if I do say so myself!
8 Pearls of Wisdom:
Woo hoo! Congrats--you on fi-ah! :)
Nice pipes too!
(I like your swim buddy's expression. Heh.)
Isn't her expression great? I'm such a barbie, being all smiley for the fierce shot.
Well done! Nice pose -- both you ladies have GREAT arms and shoulders!
AWESOME!!! Happy for your swim break, and congrats on your races :-) Still a tough girl I see.
Dude, you are RIPPED! I thought I was in good shape, but I wouldn't want to run into YOU in a dark alley! :) :)
strong work! congrats on your first (i think?) meet!
man, i miss swimming...although that arms dead, spinning your wheels, not moving feeling at the end of a race when you've gone out too fast? DO NOT MISS.
i am thinking about joining a masters team when i move, but no idea if i'll realistically have time (thinking not)- what's the time commitment like for your team?
the atmosphere at meets? (friendly v uber-competitive?) I am a slowpoke even under the best of circumstances.
I also miss having ripped arms/shoulders from swimming. strong work there too.
3rd meet, actually. But first since med school.
So, Luca and I don't currently swim with a team. We used to swim with Chicago Masters back when we lived there, and they were GREAT. Really laid back, not crazy competitive, lots of fun.
Once we moved here, we tried swimming with the Master's team at Villanova and it hasn't been nearly as nice. Most of the people there have no interest in being fast for a race. They just want to swim all 5000 yards at the same pace and be faster than everyone else there. Plus, there is nobody who is my speed. Ultimately we just stopped going because it was just too frustrating and inconsistent. Maybe it's an east coast thing?
Anyway, I've been swimming on my own with my friend (pictured), but she is moving soon, so I will probably fall back into a swimming rut and not want to go anymore. :-(
That's just how it goes swimming as an adult. Luca and I are thinking of doing a regional meet in VA in late April, so I'm kind of training for that. We'll see how it goes. Maybe there will be more videos. :-)
Awesome :)
