I am "older" an MD-PhD student, and I am obsessed with my dog. I started this program at the age of 29 after working in business and hating it for way too long. Then came the husband, and then the fur-child. Oh, the PhD's in Epidemiology. This blog is about the ups and downs of all of the above.

Water for Elephants
Whoever recommended Water for Elephants to me a few months back: Thank you. It was the best book I've read in a LONG time. Actually, I can't remember one I've read in the past 5 years that I've liked as much.
Not really related to this post, but check out the comic strip "Close to Home" for Monday 8/30/2010. I was going to email it to you, but I couldn't find your email or maybe I didn't have it. I don't mean this to be a comment, so do what you want with it.

Love your blog! I am a non-traditional student hoping to start medical school at the age of 29-30. You inspire me. Good luck with your studies!
Don't remember if I suggested you read WFE, but I loved the book and have recommended it to many people.
Hey, what veterinarian doesn't fantasize about running off to join the circus from time to time?
OR -- I think it might have been you. Someone else might have as well. Thanks!
Dunno if I can take credit or not for the recommendation, but I'm glad you liked the book! I haven't been readaing much fiction but WFE was excellent.
