Because the Boo is a champion snorer, we have continued to sleep with the fan on as it has gotten colder. Despite this, Boo's snoring is so loud that Luca can hear it in the morning when he goes downstairs to make his coffee (at 4AM, Ugh).
It's a little chilly, and I wonder if the Boo is cold. Her ears and tail are cold in the morning, so on the weekends I've been letting her up on the bed underneath the comforter with me after Luca gets up. You would think she would mind that I put my legs on her, or that she would mind that I cover her entire body (including head) up with the comforter. But no. She does not mind. She is my little heater.
And you can still hear the snoring from underneath the blanket. It's a little muffled, but it's still there.
This morning when I got up, I saw her head poking out at the foot of the bed. She totally did not want to leave her warm nest.
So I guess, yes, maybe the Boo is a little bit cold on the floor in her crate at night.
We really need to get a white noise machine.
5 Pearls of Wisdom:
If you throw a blanket over her crate, her body heat will keep her plenty warm at night... presuming you also have fluffy bedding for her.
Get her a CPAP machine
Our dogs sleep together in their crate. We throw a blanket over top of it and they have soft, cushy bedding. They sleep on top of one another and seem content.
Obviously, the solution is to get another dog to keep Boo warm ;)
I second Penelope. :)
All 4 dogs sleep in bed with us, but the pits are by FAR the better heaters than the fuzzbottoms -- their fur really does a great job retaining their heat, and the pits aren't so lucky! Sometimes MM and I argue over who gets to cuddle with the pits, if we're both cold. :) (Which is ridiculous on many levels, not the least of which being that there are two of us and two of them, so we should each get one).
We use a fan in the summer and a portable space heater in the winter for white noise. I also found a free iPod app called Sleepmaker that has good white noise -- there are a few different versions, and I really like the rain sounds.
I have been a complete white noise addict since childhood (I am betting it is from my many many bouts of croup and living in croup tents in the hospital with humidifiers by my face all the time).
Much to Tobie's chagrin. We're having the same problem now as it is FREEZING here yet I continue to blast the fan. I've always wondered if the white noise machine would wean me off the fan...
