Good news! I got a revise and resubmit from the relatively competitive journal I submitted my manuscript to about a month ago.
I was worried I'd just get a rejection. This is much better. And also, most of the points that the reviewers raise are addressable, though they may not like how we ultimately address them.....
The bad news is that it means more work for me....
And I have a committee meeting next week.
And an abstract to submit today.
And another paper I'm in the process of finishing up the analyses for.
Ah well, at least I'm done with class. Then I'd really be up shit creek.
We also finally got the electrician to finish the job. Luca had to stay home from work and crack the whip a bit, but it's done. And I have to say, WHY does it take the man cracking the whip to get things done? I feel like if I'd done what he did or said what he said, it would have been construed as "hysterical" or "overreacting" and I would have been blown off anyway.
And he also got BR #3 taped and primed, and BRs #1+2 touched up and de-plastic-ed yesterday. So over the weekend, maybe we'll paint BR #3? Then of course we still have the basement, and the basement bath to do.... but at least the 2nd floor of the house will be reclaimed.
As a side note, I just discovered that we're supposed to get 3-5" of SNOW in the next 48 hours.... so I guess I'll be planting my lily bulbs this afternoon instead of doing "real" work, since it seems I won't be able to tomorrow or Sunday.... WTF, Philadelphia. SNOW???? It's still freaking October! This isn't Chicago!

Congrats on the papeer!!!
And the electrician. My thinking that in the East coast, it tends to require the man more and more-even if I, with my American accent, stayed home with Mom while she waited, Dad would have to come home early anyway here.
When we lived in Nebraska (yup), though, people were so much more helpful for the wife staying at home-they came in, were polite, explained things and were done. Another reason why I'm less upset about moving back to the midwest.
DV -- You're making me homesick for the midwest.
I'm sad to see it's not only here that workers have no respect for women. I had a real hard time getting stuff done around my house and even though it is almost over, I've been waiting for a month for the new cabinets and the guy not only will not come, but won't respond to my phone calls either. Guess the joke is on me for having paid him half in advance.
That's awesome on the paper though! Congrats!! :)
Ha! Chicago will be in the 50s and sunny tomorrow, say the weather gods!
Congrats on the paper!
Even though I know about cars (my dad taught me a lot), I don't even bother taking my car in to the shop. I have my brother do it because I always get screwed over. It sucks but I was tired of losing money and having things take twice as long as necessary.
Good news on the paper submission - glad to hear it. I'm in the same boat - draft submission is due on Thursday and I haven't really gotten much of anything put together beyond the abstract and introduction.
As far as snow goes - count your blessings. The storm that is headed your way dumped 12" on us earlier this week.
Congrats on the paper! Nothing to add about the electrician, I have been treated the same here by all service people. This was surprisingly not the case when I lived in the south. But maybe it was because I was single & I had to be especially assertive, now I do somewhat cede these types of tasks to my husband as part of our division of labor.
Also...the weather. WTF indeed. So was not ready for winter yet. Have to dig up our gear, I usually start doing it in mid-November.
